Supporting Aging Parents Without Sacrificing Yourself

February 12, 2026

Join us on March 3 for practical answers for families with adult caregiving needs.

The most interesting part of working with families is learning about goals and planning to achieve them. We structure strategies and investments to help prepare for the lives our clients desire. Increasingly, though, I’m hearing stories about the challenges of aging and the complexities of multigenerational care. We prepare for college educations, fantastic adventures, a comfortable retirement and a long life. And then suddenly, a family member is in mental or physical decline and no one seems adequately prepared to manage the new situation with grace and confidence.

While each scenario varies in impact and gravity, one thing is certain: if you live long enough, aging is inevitable to one degree or another. Our firm has multigenerational family relationships, so we see the aging process through the experience of both the parent and the caretaker, who is commonly the adult child. We know that parents don’t want to be aging and would prefer to have their health and independence back, while the caretaker – who already has a full life - is wondering how to add the time and emotional demands of helping their loved one.

We are hosting a lunch and learn event on March 3, 11:45 - 1:00, at Communities Foundation of Texas and will cover three key topics:

  1. Conversations you should be having with your family and loved ones.
  2. Steps you can take and financial strategies you can use now to prepare for this stage.
  3. Resources that are available for aging adults and their caretakers.

Whether you are supporting loved ones as they age or thinking of your own future, you should have a plan for the life you want. Our goal is to give individuals and families the tools to do so. We hope you will join us.
